Motorhome rental on South Island, New Zealand
The South Island (English: South Island, Maori: Te Wai-pounamu) is one of the two major islands that make up New Zealand. The other large island is the North Island. These two islands are separated by the Cook Strait. In addition to these two islands, New Zealand consists of a large number of smaller islands. The South Island of New Zealand is a lot larger than the North Island and is very diverse in terms of nature and sights. The pristine nature and its diversity often surpasses that of the North Island for travelers. The Te Wahipounamu National Park has been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 1990 and is highly recommended!
You will find on the South Island, in addition to numerous special attractions, 4 of the top 10 most beautiful treks on earth. The fantastic nature with idyllic golden beaches in the north of the island to the jagged coastline in the south make it so interesting to visit this island. Ideal for trekking around by motorhome and staying overnight in various impressive places.

Abel Tasman National Park
One of the best ways to visit this beautiful National Park is to walk the "Coastal Track" hike. The trail often goes along the ocean and throughout the 51 km walk you can enjoy the beautiful scenery! You can also take a water cab and be dropped off somewhere along the track and take part of this unique tour. Alternatively, there are kayak tours.

Kaikoura
The town halfway between Blenheim and Christchurch is known for whale watching cruises. Because the ocean is very deep here and the subtropical warm and nutrient-rich cold polar waters meet, there are almost always numerous whales, dolphins and other marine life to admire.

Christchurch and Akaroa Peninsula
The city is easy to explore on foot or by bicycle. Christchurch has a number of sights worth seeing. The University of Canterbury is one of them. The neo-Gothic cathedral - the Church of England, or Christchurch Cathedral for short - whose construction started in 1864 and was completed in 1904, stands in the heart of the city in Cathedral Square, which also makes this Cathedral a good landmark, should you get lost.
-
Fjordland National Park
This National Park was included on UNESCO's World Heritage List, and rightly so. The most famous fjords are Milford Sound, Doubtful Sound and Dusky Sound. All are breathtakingly beautiful and absolutely not to be missed on a trip through New Zealand! You can experience the fjords by boat and often on one of the many walking tours (tramping).

Queenstown
The adventure capital of the country! Located on Lake Wakatipu, the town has a bit of a Swiss mountain town atmosphere. The first inhabitants of Queenstown, as in many towns and villages of the country, were gold seekers. Nowadays there is plenty to do and experience in Queenstown. It was in this town where bungee jumping was "invented" by A.J. Hackett. You can also go hang-gliding, paragliding, (tandem) skydiving, white water rafting and jet boating down the Shotover River between the rocks of the gorge. In winter, you'll find great skiing here in the Coronet Peak area or the Remarkables area a little further afield.
