Tanzania has a very diverse landscape and climate, many national parks, deep and large freshwater and saltwater lakes and of course the most famous when you think of Tanzania Africa's highest point Mount Kilimanjaro ( 5,895 meters ). The active volcano Mount Meru and the Usambara and Pare mountain ranges, among others, are also located in mountainous Northeast Tanzania. To the west of these mountain ranges are several saltwater lakes and the Crater Highlands where the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's only natrocarbonatite lava-producing volcano. To the west lies one of Tanzania's most famous spots, Serengeti National park, which is known for its Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Rhinos and the Buffaloes. Of course, it is also known for its annual migration ( Great Migration ) where millions of wild animals make the crossing.
Further northwest is Lake Victoria which is Africa's largest lake in area as it covers Ca. seventy thousand square kilometers and is also known as the source of the Nile. The deepest lake in Africa and the second deepest lake in the world, Lake Tanganyika again lies southwest of this and separates Tanzania from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The lake is as much as 1470 meters deep in places.
The western area located between Lake Victoria, Lake Tanganyika and Malawi consists of a large flat area which is part of the Central Zambezian Miombo woodland ecoregion ( ecoregion ), recognized by World Wildlife Fund. Just above Kalambo Falls is one of Africa's most important archaeological sites. To the east and toward the coast of Tanzania is subtropical, including the famous Zanzibar Archipelago. Here you can find the extraordinary mangroves, swamps, beautiful beaches. An important home for the many wildlife both on land and water. This region is also well known for its spices and here is also Dar es Salaam, the largest city and ancient capital of Tanzania.
Tanzania has a pleasant tropical climate but it varies quite a bit from region to region for a number of reasons, one of which is altitude difference.The hottest and most humid part is the coastal area, others low-lying areas in the west and east are also hot but less humid. The rest of the country has a slightly milder climate and here it cools down considerably at night. Tanzania has a dry season ( June to October ) and a rainy season ( November to May ) and the months of March, April and May are generally the wettest months and receive the most rain.
